Need to recenter too often

I have TrackIR 5.2.200 with the Track Clip Pro. I use it for a driving simulation (Project Cars... not yet released). My problem is that I have to recenter too often... virtually after every turn. I have the camera mounted on the top of my monitor about three feet away from the clip. I've used the camera view to make sure the three dots are centered on the screen. I've talked to other TrackIR users who have Project Cars and they say they don't have to recenter so often (although they are using the standard "ball cap" strip and not the Track Clip Pro). Any ideas?

Hello Scott Coffey,

The need to re-center has a lot to do with you altering your position during or after the turn. If you are not moving back to the original center position then it will need to be re-centered. I haven't experienced any problems with Project Cars losing my general position, aside from when I shift in my seat too far one way or the other. When it happens, if you switch back to the TrackIR software, is your center position off in there as well?

I found that the problem was the "TrueView" option. With that option checked I lose my center view too often. Unchecked is OK. Since I'm almost always interested in left-right head movements and not forward/backward movement (since it's a driving game) I don't feel like I'm losing anything by un-checking TrueView and now things are a lot more predictable and I don't have to recenter all the time.

(Sorry for waiting so long to reply but I just now figured it out. :) )

Scott Coffey,

Glad to hear that worked for you. I'm going to take note of it so if it comes up again I can make it one of my troubleshooting steps.

Regards,
