Greetings Everyone,
I"m hoping someone can assist me. I'm this close to buying the TrackIR 5 I just need to confirm something. Do to my living situation, wearing headphones while I game is not an option. My computer room is also on the bright side. Can anyone tell me if the TrackIR 5 camera would work properly if I used it with a hat that had IR leds where the 3 reflective points would be located if using the hat clip? I want to assume it would but I just need to confirm before making the purchase. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

It is funny. I have another forum thread from another user about the same thing. I am going to tell you the same thing about making a hat with IR LEDs. If you use LEDs that are the right frequency of IR, and mount them in the exact same position as the TrackClip, it should work. For the LEDs we suggest using the LED: Ultra Wide Angle IR 850nm, because they have been tested with our system and are on our site. As for the mounting, some people have tried using the TrackClip as a mounting bracket so the orientation is correct.

I will say that even though it should work, this configuration is completely unsupported. We wouldn't be able to offer any form of support or troubleshooting. I do love the idea and would love to know about your progress along the way, as well as the final result.
