TCP wih AAA batteries?

Hi, I was working on a wireless DIY TrackIR solution and ended up attaching a 2 AAA battery pack to the clip to power the LEDs but they don't seem to be lighting up. I suspect it is because the LEDs are 1.5v and there are 3 so I would need 4.5 volts and the batteries are only supplying 3 as there are two. If someone could confirm this or let me on to a better solution I would love it. Thanks!
