hi...ive been following trackir from a few versions back..but never bought it...but now i`m drooling over the video clips on your site and want to take the plunge...but i need my mind putting to rest on a concern of mine.
when in virtual cockpit of the default cessna i get frames of 20-30....using the pmdg 737-600 i get frames of 18-25...both are approx...i have the fps slider set to unlimited...do the frames seem good enough to run with trackir...can i get by with them...or am i wasting my time....i look forward to any responds you have.
(please note i have a lot of the sliders set high so i could move them back abit...computer is a p4..3gig..1gig ram..and a gf6800 xt)

The TrackIR has no affect on frame rate. It takes up very little CPU cycles or memory. I can't notice any hit at all on frames. The only way the TrackIR might interfere with your video frame rate is when you turn your head to look at some god awful high-poly object your frames may dip. But that's not the TrackIRs fault it's your video card!!

Thanks Jason for the reply....to be honest that wasnt what i was asking....sorry if i`m not clear enough...i had read on other forums about the very liitle or no impact on frames...what i`d like to know is the effect trackir has with my frame rate..i.e when i look around will i get pauses,,stutters...i ask because i see alot of posts saying set the fps to around 30 for best performance..i dont quite get 30fps...thanks for taking the trouble to read this

Centenaryman, if you are getting say 20fps then the panning will be at 20fps.

The jerkiness that some people are talking about is not down to fps, but the sampling speed of the TIR, and that is what the smoothness filter is all about. That and setting up the TIR will have more of an impact than your ingame fps at the moment.

When I first started with TIR in IL2 I was getting simular frame rates that you are having and the panning was not a problem.

Sorry I missed the crux of the question. The TrackIR doesn't affect frame rate in anyway. Like Barred said some people were using the TrackIR incorrectly and getting poor results. Besides, our Pro camera is running at 120 Frames a second so the tracking is nice and smooth independent of what the in-game frame rate is.
