TrackIR Freezes after 10 minutes

Hi,

I have been using TrackIR for about a year with no problems. I have just recently bought a new gaming rig and have just installed TrackIR. The problem is that after about 10-15 minutes TrackIR freezes. It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm in game or not but it just freezes.
If I am in game, it freezes, I exit the game and shut down the TrackIR software (I'm using 5.4.2), the camera still has both lights on as if I was still in game. I have to restart the software for the lights to switch to one again.
I am running windows 10 with an Intel i7-6700K, Maximus Extreme Assembly MB and 2x Asus 980Ti's (can't upload dxdiag as apparently .txt files are not allowed).
I have tried a couple of the workarounds I found on the forum (deleted settings.xtml and updated driver) but, so far, nothing works.

Hugh Mungus,

Hmm, before you kill the application have you taken note of the resources it is using? Are you installing TrackIR to it's default location?

Hi Mike,

TrackIR is installed to the following directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5

I assume it is default as I have not changed the location during setup. At the time it froze TrackIR was using 0.1% cpu and 80.9 MB of ram.
[edit] before crashing it was using 3% cpu

Hi Mike

I did post and update a reply but it doesn't seem to be here any more.

I installed TrackIR 5 to the default directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5

Just before the it crashes it is using 3% CPU and around 81MB of RAM, when it freezes it is on 0.1 CPU and about the same RAM. Just to be clear it is only the tracking that freezes, I can still use the settings and profile tabs on the software.
The tracking just stops.

Hugh Mungus,

Have you done a complete removal of all things TrackIR from your system? Including removing files manually after rebooting and cleaning out the registry?

Hi Mike,

I have uninstalled it with jv16 powertools which removes every trace of the software including registry keys, I have tried installing a different version (5.4.0) but was getting the same issue.
I will uninstall it again and make sure that every trace is gone before re-installing but so far that hasn't worked.

The software also doesn't seem to recognize when I import a profile. I am importing it to:

C:\Users\cgime\AppData\Roaming\NaturalPoint\TrackIR 5\Profiles

which I think is the correct directory but it does not show up on my profiles when I open the software.

Hugh Mungus,

That is the correct directory and I'm not sure why it isn't working. Though I have had a multitude of the registry "tools" fail to get everything during removal, the original issue may still be present after your removal attempts.

Hi Mike,

So, I did a complete uninstall, removed registry keys, moved the folder in the appdata/roaming directory and any trace I could find.
Re-installed it and it lasted 4 minutes before it froze again. This time I got the
'the program had encountered a problem and Microsoft was trying to find a solution'
message.
It must be conflicting with something but I don't know what.

Hugh Mungus,

If you go into the event viewer does it show an error code?
