Information on HUD files

I am a newbie to TrackIR but an "oldie" to flight simulation - still at the "feeling very dizzy and sick" stage with the new hardware but I read that this may pass. My main problem is with the gauges of the virtual cockpit and their continual jumping around on any settings I have tried so far. Disabling the Z axis helps a bit but loses that bit of the functions, of course.

It struck me that what might work well was a blank virtual cockpit - brilliant for panning views - with a fixed HUD or just a few crucial gauges along the top or bottom of the screen. Does anyone know of any add-ons/files that provide this within the virtual cockpit ? (I use a mini-panel for the 2D cockpit which works excellently for getting maximum viewing.)

In short, so far the all-round views with TrackIR are brilliant, but the jumpy, swerving gauges are very off-putting. Guidance gratefully recieved .....

I've read the instructions and tried all choices, dead space, smooth, etc,,, and slid the smoothing slider high and low but still have everything jerking around. You should see me chasing the autopilot controls trying to click that elusive button.

I know it's probably me and I need to just keep practicing but would appreciate any advice.

I did do a couple web pages showing the TrackIR. I usually fly helicopters but I am WAY Too jerky to fly those yet.

Take a look if you want.

I would still like any replies people have on the HUD files - but meanwhile I have been experimenting more with the profile editor, and reckon I may have cracked it (for my set-up, that is). I hit upon a simple combination of making a drastically reduced curve - i.e. slower responses all round - and putting "smoothing" to maximum. No more jerking gauges, and very little dizziness. I have e-mailed this profile to the site for their consideration.

I know I am replying to myself - but I think I have cracked my issue. I am using a plane without a virtual cockpit (currently a freeware cessna citation) and a 2D panel which has all the crucial gauges in a line along the bottom of the screen. In 2D view, just undock this panel and re-locate it below the main FS window - and then go into virtual mode. The 2D panel stays in place, and you get total freedom of looking around the scenery with the TrackIR+VE. Brilliant. (Apologies if everyone already knows all this, but I have only just found it!)

If I understand correctly the problem your having is that its hard to click on the gauges with TIR as your view keeps wandering yes ?

You can pause TIR, the default key is F9 but you can change it to whatever you like in your profile, click on the hot keys tab.

So, look at the gauge, pause TIR, click the gauge, un-pause TIR.
