Motive small icons (resolution?)

Hello

I would like to work with motive on a laptop running on windows 10 with 4K display resolution (3840 × 2160) which seems to highly influence the appearance of motive (very small icons etc.). I already tried to change the screen resolution to a lower setting but no changes in motive.

Is there any option the control the appreance setting in motive itself?

Hello dene,

Thank you for reaching out to the community regarding your question. The icon sizes are a current limitation of the UI implementation. Unfortunately changing the resolution in Windows does not seem to affect this much.

There are no Motive settings that will affect the icon sizes. I have tried changing UI scaling/size within Windows itself, but I have seen this cause unusual displays within Motive and other applications. It worked for me, but some menu items or descriptions would end up off screen where I could not access them.

Best regards,
Steven

Hi dene,

We are slowly moving toward a UI implementation that should fix this. Unfortunately, Motive 2.0 will not resolve the issue with the icon sizes, but we hope to have this fixed after the next couple of releases.

Best,
Steven

Hi Dene,

There is a fix for the small Icons in Motive. You have to follow these steps:

If scaling is too small using a 4k display, you have to change the properties of the Program. To do this:
1. Right click on the Motive Icon (on the desktop) > Select Properties
2. Navigate to the Compatibility tab
3. Check "Override high DPI scaling Behavior. Scaling performed by:"
4. Select “System”
5. Close Motive if you have not already, and re-launch it.

This should resolve your small Icons issue in Motive. Please let us know if this works for you.

Hi,

Thank you for the advice how the the small icons in Motive could be fixed.
Unfortunately it isn't working for us. I can only check the option "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" and with this option active, the icons stay small. I don't see the "Override high DPI scaling behavior by..."

Sincerely,
sceu
