win2k installation issue, help please!

I followed the install instructions to the letter (esp. the part about not plugging it in until after the software install. It just says USB device found, and but doesn't identify it properly, and says it cant find drivers. Tried all the suggestions in the forums, everything. Made sure it works on another computer (it does). uninstalled, reinstalled software - tried diff USB ports - searched and cleaned registry (there was nothing to clean). The computer always looks for the drivers before it says it can't find them, so it is looking.

I have win2k pro with sp3, trackIR gx, any suggestions please.

I'm having the EXACT same problem after receiving my TrackIR today. EXACTLY the same. It says 'USB Device' and then can't find a driver for it. On another machine, it installs and runs no problem. The ONLY difference that I can see between the two machines is that the one on which it will not work uses an nForce2 chipset while the one that does work has a VIA chipset.

So - is this true for you too? Is there maybe an issue with nForce2 boards?

I'm using 2.01, and my system specs are Win2K with SP3, Asus A7N8X Deluxe, AthlonXP 2200+, 512 MB DDR400.

Finaly found it alone; now works fine





Have to reinstall
1/ all your Win2k
2/ TrackIR
3/ nVidia drivers after Track IR
if nVidia before track Ir it does'nt go on my system (A7N8X Deluxe)

Sorry to add this but the same applies to XP. Having just suffered this indignity. However, the support crew were very quick to respond. If you have ever had a bad driver install on your system you are likely to suffer this consequence. It would appear that 2000 and XP can go one eyed and not let you past what they have decided they are looking at.

So brace yourself and get ready for the task in hand. Look on the bright side it will be like a spring clean!!!

PS I had no problems with TRACKIR after nvidia
