Help me with this dot theory?

Why bigger and smaller dots? Is there any better having small dots than big dots or vice versa?
I am sitting about 0,5 metres away from the device.

Dot size does not matter. Not much.
It might a) give you better resolution when using smaller dots, b) give you a way to separate the back-noise (if you have certain "size" noise around).
But most likely c) they are just to suit different kind of base. Depending if you put it on your nose, hat, microphone or some such.
I guess from 0.5m I would use the larger, especially if it suits your microphone (for eg) well. It would be realiably large target for the illumination to reflect. The 4 illumination LEDs can't be too powerful, and they will lose effectiveness quickly after some distance.
Anyway there might be optimums (check the camera visuals) but there won't be _crucial_ reason to for you to use one or the other.

Dot size doesnt matter?
Go from using a single tiny dot to the new large squares and you will notice a MASSIVE difference.
In this case, size does matter.

I agree I have to use the large squares....for some reason when I move my head up using a dot (on my forehead) theTIR2 looses track. I've tried different locations for the TIR and moving the dot to different positons and cannot get it to 'track' above 40 in the motion screen...... But with the square it seems to work ok. BTW I'm using v3.03.
