Would someone PLEASE explain Edit Points??

I have read the pdf manual for 3.03 which came with my TrackIR2, yet unfortunately, it does an inadequate job of explaining what each of the edit points control.

For example, what is edit point 50? What is edit point 5? How do the speed settings effect each edit point and the one next to them?

I find it impossible to figure out at this juncture.

Please help!

Regards,

Wazoo

I'll try to explain, I hope it will make sense!

The edit points allow you to adjust how quickly TIR2 responds to different degrees of head movement, either left/right, or up/down. There are 8 edit points in all:

0
2
5
10
20
30
40
50

Edit point 0 affects TIR2 speed when you're looking straight ahead.

Edit point 50 affects speed when you are looking all the way left or right, or all the way up or down.

Edit point 10 or 20 affects speed when you are looking 1/2 way left/right, or 1/2 way up/down.

The remaining points let you fine-tune the speed as you move your head from side to side, or up/down.

If you look at the graph when you change edit points, you will see small yellow triangles on the bottom and left edges of the graph. As you increase the edit point number, these triangles move farther apart - they are showing you exactly where in the range of head motion this edit point will affect.

The speed settings for an edit point control how quickly TIR2 will respond to a head motion at that point.

A low number means the view will move slowly when you move your head thru that edit point, a high number causes the view to move quickly. The speed can be set from 0 (slowest) thru 80 (fastest)

The application for this is mainly to allow you to have a slow steady view while looking straight ahead, and still be able to look behind (or above) you very quickly without having to move your head too much.

You do this by setting low speeds for the 1st few edit points, and progressively higher speeds for the remaining edit points. Doing that will cause slow movements when you are looking straight ahead, and progressively faster movements as you look more to the sides, or up/down.

If I'm not mistaken, how edit point speeds affect the points next to them is controlled by the "smoothing" slider. This slider has values ranging from 10 to 120.

Setting it to 10 will cause the speed change to be very abrupt as your head moves from one edit point to the next. Setting it to 120 will cause the speed change to be very gradual as your head moves between edit points.

I hope this will help you, I understand how it works but I'm not good at explaining things
