Can't install TrackIR drivers anymore !!! :(

I used to have TrackIR 2 installed on my system. Then i tried to install 3.10 drivers, and now the device can not be installed properly again !! I can't say for sure that the issue is related to installing these drivers, since i haven't been using my TrackIR for a while, and don't know if it was still working a few days ago, but i am 80% sure it was ok.

Anyway, each time i try to install it again , i either get a USB DEVICE or NATURALPOINT SMARTNAV with a big mark before it !!! TrackIR soft won't recognize my TrackIR and i can't force WINXP to install the driver by hand !!!
I tried everything. Uninstalling the software, rebooting twice, reinstalling the software, rebooting, pluging trackir .... nothing works !!

I guess reinstalling windows will fix the problem but i REALLY don't feel like doing this.

One thing: each time i try to uninstall the software, the reg folder
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\Vid_131d&Pid_0100] fails to be deleted and i can't delete it even in failsafe mode (logged as admin). WTH is that ?!

This can happen if,

1) The unit was connected to the USB port when the install/re-install was carried out or
2) There was a problem that occurred during the install routine.

Unfortunately Windows XP is one of those operating systems that doesn�t forget when you connect a USB device to the computer.

With the unit connected to the computer you will need to go into the �Device Manager� and un-install the USB device that is being shown, this will most likely be �Unknown Device�.

Now check that these keys and values have been deleted from the registry.
You should be good to now install the 3.10 drivers and allow the install routine to clear previous installs and finish with a system re-start.

I am at home at the moment, but if this fails to complete the install e-mail me and we can look a little further at your system tomorrow when I am in work.

Thanks for your answer: i tried to uninstall the USB DEVICE in device manager with my TrackIR plugged in, but i am still unable to delete these registry keys !!!

Any idea why this doesn't work ??? I tried rebooting several times, going in failsafe mode etc...
The best solution would be to be able to install the drivers manually, but i can't do this since the TrackIR software installs everything from a compressed archive

Ok, i just figured out why this did not work.
As i could not install my TrackIR, i tried to plug it in in almost every USB port on my PC.
Therefore, WinXP kept a trace of each USB DEVICE it detected and would not let me delete the reg keys.

I plugged the trackIR in each USB port and UNINSTALL the device each time it was detected: i could then get rid of those reg keys.

The problem is i reinstalled the TrackIR software, let it clean the registry, rebooted, and boom : USB DEVICE detected again !!!! And it won't find the correct driver for it !!!

OMG, i am really starting to get pissed lol

Thanks for your reg entry logs.
I didnt receive an e-mail from you this morning so I am a little unsure if you have your unit working correctly or not?

As I indicated in my previous post when you plug a USB device in the computer it will remember each port as they are seperate gateways.

Please e-mail me if you are still experiencing any problems then I will be in a better position to find out what the problem is.
