TrackIR3 FPS Boost Info

Post by Charlie251 »

I have been looking around the forums lately and noticed something interesting. Everyone seems to thinkt hat a higher FPS TrackIR will boost your in game FPS.

It will not.

The FPS of the TrackIR is simply how many times the imager take a 'picture' of your dot location and relays this information.

The TrackIR FPS will ALWAYS be at its given FPS (80 or 120) regardless of what is going on in the game. This is because the TrackIR FPS and the game FPS are completely independant of each other. They do not affect each other whatsoever. (Even when moving your head quickly with the TrackIR3, you may introduce a small amount of 'lagginess' in the game view. This is not a problem with the TrackIR. It is an issue with your video card and monitor not being able to render the graphics quickly enough. We have seen this same issue with the TrackIR1 and TrackIR2. Please note that you see the same thing happening when using the SHIFT-VIEW keys as the view just moves too quickly for your system to keep up. NOT A TRACKIR ISSUE!)

The higher FPS of the TrackIR give you better performance of the view system. The TrackIR3 Pro is much more accurate and responsive.

Our review will be up within the week.

Some people are swearing that they are getting an FPS boost in the game with the TrackIR 3.

I think they are nuts.

But if so, good for them!
