Need MW:Mercs Profile or Setup Help

Post by FooBez »

My TrackIr3Pro hasn't arrived yet, but if anyone has a good MechWarrior Mercs profile or can help me set it up for use, please post about how to do it or where to email me.

Man, I am so looking forward to this controller. With my tendonitis worsening and the anti-inflamatories doing less, this seems like a damn good system.

I'm actually kinda bummed with the way Mech4:Mercs handles TIR. In mouse-emulation mode, TIR jerks around really bad. By this I mean the game is running fine, but my view jumps about once a second when using TIR, rather than being a smooth, free-look.

It's as if the TIR only polls for the reflection once every second or so. Very strange. I haven't had a chance to try it with any of the other Mech series (Love em, they're the reason I wanted to try out TIR ;-> ).

Practically every other game I've tried with TIR has worked great, though it *sometimes* moves too fast.

G-dawg,

If you are using mouse emulation, ensure that you set the "Mouse Override Delay" to zero on the main screen of the TrackIR software, it sounds as if this is set differently.

Hoo boy, did that fix the problem. It's very smooth after that. I still need to do some tweaking though, even at low mouse sensitivity, it's moving pretty quick. Gives me a headache after a few minutes :/

I guess it just needs to break me in a bit

Thanks Wayne

G-dawg,

No problem.
Ensure that you are sitting about an arms length away from your unit.

You may want KEYMAPPER; use that instead of mouse emulation. Leave your mouse for torso twist.

With Keymapper, you can look left and right, having them assigned Numpad4 and Numpad6 respectively, which will control turning.

Even with Keymapper, I did not like the performance. For true sim and supported games, TrackIRpro3 must kick ass, but for Mercs get a NostromoSpeedPadN50 or N52 and a Logitech Mx500.

Mercs requires absolute precision. A mouse is the best tool to achieve that end.
