New user, some problems

(using 2.01 retail drivers)
1- Can't get things right with proflies. Everytime I switch windows my proflie gets back to BoB instead of IL2/FB. My saved proflies don't work, they only show the default settings after every session.
2- How do I create a deadzone? I try it by selecting Custom in the motion panel and then playing with X and Y axis, but no success. Even selecting the default deadzone setting I can't get a deadzone.
