Screen Jitters

My TrackIR3 Pro number is 20138.
I just got my TrackIR3 Pro 2 days ago, running it on a P4 3.2, 6800GT, OCZ ddr500 (just one gig) a COUGAR and the TRACKIR3pro. Whenever I am flying a training mission using ENHANCED mode, and I first look around, lets say UP for example- I'll see part of my cockpit flash 1 - 3 times in front of me, even though it is out of my actual field of view. This happens when I track left or right, up or down. It seems to settle out a bit, but it is very annoying nevertheless. Running 3.12 on the Track, and the newest Cougar drivers and bios, as well as 61.77 of the Nvidia drivers. Any help would be appreciated.

I also ordered from EDimensions, and it was shipped FedEx in a bubble wrap bag, crushed by the time it got here, and the USB cable strain relief was broken off. I don't think this has anything to do with the problems I'm having though.

Hi there.
I got your PM.
I just tried A-10 Sidewinder and Maverick tutorials now. No flashing cockpit or anything.
As you said, we have quite similar specs and drivers too.
Sorry I can't be of any help.

P-IV 3GHz, 2GB DDR400, GF6800GT w/det.61.77, Audigy, Samsung 193T, WinXP Pro SP2, LO-MAC v1.02, TrackIR v3.12.
LO-MAC config and mods:
BoboCop's medium detail cloud-mod, some hi-res font-mod.

No mirrors, no cockpit reflections, no AA and no AF.

If the cable is damaged then we really need to look at that first, please e-mail me.

BTW I also run NVIDIA and do not have this problem

Thank you both for responding. Wayne, I clicked the EMAIL link next to your post, and it informs me that someone is blocking my attempt to send an email.
Am I missing something?
Shadow, your settings are very very close to mine, I try to run 1600 x 1200 32bit though.
What kind of frame rates are you getting?

Sorry trilogy I dont know why it does that from time to time.

If you contact eDimensional you will be able to return the unit and get it exchanged, lets make sure all the hardware is working okay first.

My e-mail link is now up and running again, thanks for letting me know.

Well, I'm happy to say
1. The problem I had was NOT my TRACKIR3 pro
2. Everything is running PERFECTLY (including of course, my TRACKIR) in LOCK-ON
The issue (for anyone else who may run into the same issue) was that the LOCK-ON game listed a device called a USB to RS232 INTERFACE. By default there are a few commands routed to this device (I have NO IDEA what this thing is or why it's there)
One of those commands was CENTER VIEW, and it was mapped to BUTTON 5 of what I guess was my COUGAR stick, as a DIRECTX input.
It apparently was sending out spurious CENTER VIEW commands, so when I looked anywhere BUT center, the sim would try to recenter the views, fighting the TRACKIR trying to look where I WANTED to look. Removing those commands from the device SOLVED the problem completely.
There were also issues with all of my missiles firing off whenever I went into an Air to Air mode. This was caused by FIRE WEAPONS and CHANGE WEAPONS commands that were also mapped to DX buttons on this device. Getting rid of those also solved the missile firing issue.
Now,, if ANYONE know what the heck a USB to RS232 INTERFACE is, and how the heck it got into my system, PLEASE let me know,,, I'm scratchin my head to figure it out, and I don't have much hair left.
Cheers, Trilogy

What kind of frame rates are you getting?1280x1024 (not like I have a choice..Samsung LCD).
I get 40 at the start of the A-10 quick flight.
The RS232 to USB is uhm just what it says. A adapter so you can connect serial-equipment (RS232 9-pin connector) to a USB port. If you don't have such a card in your computer, have you checked all external equipment like USB-hubs, keyboards, external soundcards (Extigy) or external video-editing boxes etc?
The Coug can emulate ps/2, but not serial IIRC.

A friend had the same problem with LOMAC in Win98, only the component was called something like Windows DirectX joystick.

Anyway, glad you got it working again

Shadow, I stated my question poorly. I'm aware of what the device does, I'm NOT aware of what put it there.
I do NOT have ANY device that would fit that description attached to ANY port of my computer - USB or otherwise (at least that I am aware of)
I THINK it has to do with the MicroStick on my Cougar Joystick. But I'm not sure.
The problem is that it sends out a continous stream of DX button commands, and it shouldn't be.
I have a friend that has a MS Sidewinder, and this device shows up under GAME CONTROLLERS as well, as a 32 button controller, but HIS lights do NOT illuminate (but a third of mine do)
I looked at a few NEW machines at CompUsa and BestBuy, and this device is NOT listed there. The common thread being that none of them had a joystick connected, but his and mine do.
Check out Game Controllers in the control panel, see what you find there?

That's all.
The microstick on the Coug does not emulate RS232 signals as far as I know. It's strictly DX.
If you think your Microstick is sending signals at idle (center) you can try moving it around to see if the signal changes. I doubt it though.

Yep, I tried moving around the microstick, and there were no changes in the USB/RS232 lights.
If you show ONLY the Cougar, and I assume that you have a TRACKIR, then I'm stymied about what put this device in my game controllers.
Do you have Lock-On? That would be the only other thing that I've installed on this new machine that would be game related in any way.
