Tracking Unit Position

I have the TIR3pro mounted above my monitor which is in a cockpit that I built. The distance from my head to the monitor is not adjustable (the cockpit is designed for me alone). Can I move the unit below the monitor or somewhere else? The canopy is not an option since I fly most of the time with it open. Really just want to know what kind of options I have before I go to work. Unfortunately, the designer (me) left out easy mods in the original cockpit design.

I know that a few users that had the same concerns actually mounted the units behind them. In this configeration the unit will work in the same manner.
