Updating drivers over install software

Post by Renner »

Hello All,

I recently received a TrackIR3-Pro and applied the installation CD software (version 3.12). It created a Naturalpoint folder in my start menu and a desktop icon also called 'naturalpoint'.

Next I downloaded and installed 'TrackIR_4.0.020'

It created a TrackIR v4.0 folder in my start menu and a desktop icon called 'TrackIR'.

I let the wizard install in the default location and was a little surprised that there is two sub-folders under the naturalpoint folder in the C:/program files directory. One sub-folder is called TrackIR and the other is TrackIR4.

I havent plugged in my TrackIR3-Pro yet, from what I've stated is my software installed properly?

Should I discard the naturalpoint desktop icon in favour of the TrackIR icon?

Thanks for any advice.

I found the related topic in their FAQ.
I'm just a user but I wish it could be a help for you.

Can I run 3.x and 4.x software at the same time? (please read if you've implemented a registry fix!)

Reply : There is a special step you can take when installing version 4.x software, so that you don't write over the version 3.x software.
Start to install the 4.x software without un-installing version 3.x first.
When prompted during the software install, uncheck the box for the USB driver.
Both versions of software will now be available.

I wish there was something to warn me of this incompatability.
