How do I detect passive marker using Slim 3U camera

Post by ypadhan@gmail.com »

Hi,

I have a Slim 3U camera and I want to detect passive marker using Camera SDK(using C++). Using the sample program, I am able to connect to the camera and read the grey scale images. My problem is I am not able to detect any sort of markers using SDK (passive). It seems logical to me as Slim 3U does not have IR illumination ring. My question is, is there any way we can detect passive marker using Slim 3U camera or do I need any specific marker so that Slim 3U will be able to detect it or I have to use some additional hardware? Any sort of help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Hello,
The slim3u does not have an IR LED Ringlight, so it is only able to detect active markers. If you are using passive markers, with retroreflective material, you could get an IR light 850nm band and shine the light from the same angle as the flex3u camera. Motive is searching for circularity, so you would need to play with the circularity settings, since the light would not be directly from the camera.
