New TrackIR User Q Plz?

What driver version will my new TrackIR 3 Pro have on the CD?? (Ordered Today)
I have Windows XP Pro SP-2 updated. Would I be best off to ignore the CD and just download and install one of the newer driver versions? Looking like .021 is the most stable?
Thanks!

Heya Decon,
I just received my TrackIR yesterday, and installed the 4.0.022 off the disc that came with it.
(it will say the version number on the disc)
Installation was smooth as silk, effortless and quite painless. Took only five minutes tops.
But what I did was look around the NP web site here. I headed over to the download page - downloaded and read the
PDF VERSION of the install guide right after I placed my order.
By the time I got my TIR3pro I was all set and had done all the recommended items days in advance.
You'll enjoy this! It's in a word -- AWESOME!

Hiya!! thanks for the reply! I have the manual downloaded and am reading.
To clarify! The software that comes with the CD/TrackIR is the one to install. Not the .021 or the .024 correct?
Thanks,
Decon
Looking forward to this expierence!

Looking forward to this expierence!I would say yes if they are the .022 version as mine were.
But additionally, double-check the version number that is listed on the disc first!
Mine said 4.0.022 and I have no issues at all. I'd recommend these first, then if you have any issues that .024 address, then and ONLY then should you try those.
Basically in a nut shell - try the .022 and keep the "if it aint broke, dont fix it.' idea in mind.
Have fun! You're gonna enjoy this!!

Excellent and thanks again! If it doesn't come with the .022 driver, is there a place to download them? After what you have said I definitely want to try those first!

Decon, try here
http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/sup ... loads.html that will take you to the drivers page. Personally I would not bother installing the drivers off the CD, but use the one on the drivers page straight off.

Ok Thanks! You would be referring to the .024's then.
Please allow me this:
What is on the CD? I assume, Software and Drivers?
Should I decide to download the .024's does the download include software and drivers or would I still need to run the CD for the software and opt for the .024's instead of the drivers on the CD?
Hehehe! Of course gents, this now leaves me making the decision that I was trying to avoid in the first place.
Sorry for making a mess of this and thanks for your patience and info. I'm just trying to get ahead of this before it gets here. Sadly, that will be Monday 4/25. Wished I could have had TIR this weekend.

Decon, no worries
What is on the disk is the latest version of the driver/software at the time when the disk was pressed. So downloading and trying the 4.024 driver would be the same as upgrading the version on the disk. Installing the latest driver (from the Natural Poiint website) instead of the one on the CD just saves you installing then uninstalling the one on the CD.
You do not need any of the software on the CD if you are using the downloaded one.

Great!! Guess what? It arrived unexpectedly yesterday, Friday! LOL, the disk that came with mine was the .024 so no choices there.
A coupla things. My little Alien buddy came mounted BACKWARDS on the stand?? Odd heh? Coupla intense minutes as I flipped it to the correct position. <GULP> installation and setup was a breeze. Worked right outta the box.
Yep I think I was over-working this. But better safe then sorry!
I do have the slow return to center when centering in WarBirds. Pacific Fighters seems just fine.
