USB extension cables

is there a way to get TIR work with USB extension cables? My monitor is just shy of my TIR's cable length to my computer's closest USB port and I have found that my TIR refuses to function on my powered USB hub. Any ideas out there?

If you look at our store catalog, we sell a 3 foot USB extension cable that you can use.

is this a "special" USB extension or is it just that it is shorter than 6-foot extension that I already own?

I use an 5m Active USB cabel and it works fine.

Excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by "Active" cable?
