TrackIR 3 Pro problem

Hi all,

I am having a very weird (and annoying) problem with my TrackIR 3 Pro when playing Falcon 4.0 : Allied Force which hopefully someone can help me out with.

The problem can best be described as a mini in-game earthquake when on the ground and I use the 3D cockpit to look around (using the TrackIR hat). The whole 3D world seems to shake even though my viewpoint doesn't change. If I stop the TrackIR tracking (by removing my hat) and use the num pad arrows to look around (still in 3D cockpit) everything is fine. The minute I start using TrackIR again, the problem returns.

To show this weird effect, I have taken a quick video which can be found here.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers, Rod

Looking at that video makes me think something is wrong with either the installation of the game or patches. That's clearly something that is distorting the display.

Have you tried to uninstall completely and reinstall the game with all patches etc and then see what it does? This is the first time I have seen that occur.

Do you have the latest direct-x installed? Video drivers? It's wierd that you say this only happens with our software going. Does this happen in any other games?

I had a simular effects with my TrackIR3 Pro.
It turned out that a fingerprint in front of the IR camera was causing this strange effect.
Once cleaned, all worked just fine!

Hi again,

OK here is what I did:

1. Cleaned the TrackIR camera (thanks for that Sjakie!);
2. Completely uninstalled the game and reinstalled and applied patches;
3. Installed latest CAT display drivers for my 9800Pro;
4. Installed DirectX 9.0c

At each stage I checked to see if what I had done affected the problem but nothing worked.

However, I did notice if I turned my head to the maximum extent behind me in the game view, the weird jumping of everything outside stopped. This got me thinking and I started up the game without TrackIR running and used instead used the mouse to look around the 3D cockpit.

You will be pleased to know that the weird jumping was still present although not as evident - presumably because when using TrackIR the view was constantly moving as it is very tricky to keep your head totally still!

Later on I also noticed the problem when using the external "Chase" view so I am now sure it is not a problem with the TrackIR software/camera.

Thanks for your time and suggestions, I'll go back to scratching my head although it could be a good enough excuse to convince my fiance that I need a new PC.

Thanks again,

Rod
