I just installed my TrackIR last night at home.
My system is an Asus Nforce2 running XP Pro. I have my system set up with several users accounts. There is the Admin (me) for maintaning the sysetm, and then several accounts for my wife, my brother, and then me again for doing regular work like playing IL-2:FB!! I only use the Admin account to install software, etc. and not for playing games.
The TIR driver install went fine using version 2.11 downloaded from the web. I was able to use it just fine while logged in as Admin. Everything looked great! Then I logged out and logged back in as my normal user account. When I started up TIR I got the error message "Registry Key Error" two times before the TIR panel came up. Now when I move my head around the mouse freezes for a fraction of a second every few seconds. Very frustrating to play like that! When I run in enhanced mode and play IL-2:FB, the same thing still happens. If I play IL-2:FB as Admin, it works just fine and there are no error messages. I am playing with the TIR panel minimized.
I have all USB peripherials (printer, joystick, and TIR) plugged directly into the computer (I have 6 USB ports), I am not using any hubs.
I read the other XP Pro thread but saw nothing relating to my problem. Does anyone have any ideas here? I have a hunch "Registry Key Error" may be a matter of my normal use account not having the proper permissions for something, but I have no idea what that might be. But it is the periodic freezing that is just frustrating.
I tried opening the task manager and listing all active processes to see if some other process was too demanding of the CPU when the freezes happened, but all running processes looked just fine as far as I could tell.
All suggestions welcome!!

Re: Odd behavior w/ XP Pro
I did a further test with my system. I changed my regular account on my computer to also have Admin security settings and the problems I mentioned in my above post stopped happening. But this is NOT the solution!!!! My normal user accounts should not be required to have Admin permissions. Don't you agree?
I have also emailed my problem to the support email address and I have still heard no response from them. Do they ever read this stuff?
