hi folks

did a reinstall of windows over the weekend, and rather than reinstall trackir3 app from the cd (version 4.0.020) i downloaded the most current version from the site.

installed it and then plugged trckir3 in, but got no light. i did follow the directions as per winxp. i did just recently install symantec av and zonealarm, which prompt me to allow various things. they asked me to allow something called "smartnav.exe" and i declined, not being sure of what it is. i think i also checked "don't ask me again". curious to know if i might have interrupted something crucial to trackir3.

anyhow, i can run the trackir software just fine, but it tells me that no device is connected. in device manager i don't see any yellow question marks or exclamations under USB controllers, nor do i see track ir or unknown listed.

i've tried to diff't usb ports on my comp, but get no response from the trckir unit.

i uninstalled the most recent track ir software then reinstalled the 4.0.020 and plugged the unit back in, but still nothing.

if i maybe told symantec to stop a trckir related process, can i go into symantec or zone alarm options and enable it?

any suggestions would be welcome.

Hi Pepperg, from the sound of it the software/driver for SmartNav has beein installed instead of TIR.

I would sugest downloading the software from http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06- ... nuals.html again (it is the top right one) and then uninstall the software with Add/Remove Programs and delete teh NP folder. Once that is done turn off your PC for a couple of minutes and then reboot and reinstall.
