Track IR 5.5 (any versions) not installing properly.

Good morning.
I would to share my latest experience.
I'm using TIR since years and 5.4.2 was (and still is) a charm on all my Windows PC, no matter of which OS versions installed.
I actually have Win 11 pro (64 bit), updated to its latest release.
What happens to me is that any TIR 5.5 version recently released I tried to install failed to create their "TrackIR5" folder (as just as it has to be, I suppose) in the "C:/Program (X86)/NaturalPoint" folder, instead of what 5.4.2 regularly did. What I always get is the "USB Drivers" folder there. No "NaturalPoint" folder in the AppData/Roaming general folder has been created, in addition.
I tried to uninstall (cleaning carefully any kind of entries with RevoUninstaller and CCleaner, and manually with Regsistry Editor too, after doing that) and install TIR 5.5.0, 5.5.1, 5.5.2 and 5.5.3 - all of them were running in the background, and that was all.
I have also tried any tip suggested in this Forum to solve 5.5 bugs, but mine is of a total different kind, I guess - a more radical one, I'd say.
I had to quit wasting my time and revert to my trustful 5.4.2, in conclusion.
But I still wonder what causes all that.

Hello JagHond,
Are you using a TrackIR 5 or an earlier model of TrackIR? The current software has only been confirmed to work with the TrackIR 5 model.
Versions 5.5.x should be installing in the C:\Program Files (x86)\TrackIR5 folder, rather than C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5, and the device drivers should be located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers. Do you see them in that folder? When you connect the TrackIR, does Device Manager show it under NaturalPoint Devices, or is it listed as an Unknown Device? If it is an unknown device, try manually pointing to the Device Drivers in C:\Windows\System32\drivers.

Hi there, Jillian.
Here are my answers:
- to your first, I'm using TIR 5 with TrackClip Pro since three years at least;
- to all the remaining yours, I have to respond negatively to each.
As I told before, after any "installation", I always can see the "C:/Program (X86)/NaturalPoint" folder, and in it the "USB Drivers" subfolder only, and nothing else.
In conclusion, what I know is that TIR is only running in the background after I launched it, and nothing else happens, so I have to suppose that until the new installers could make a correct (i.e., full) installation of the program, they are unfortunately useless to me at least, unless you at NaturalPoint can find a reliable solution of this weird issue.

It is normal for the C:/Program (X86)/NaturalPoint folder to only have the USB Drivers now. The main folder for the software has been moved to C:\Program Files (x86)\TrackIR5.
When TrackIR is running in the background, do you see an icon in the system tray? It may be that your TrackIR software is set to Run Minimized or Minimize to System Tray.

I just replaced my Track IR 4 with a version 5 (according to the label on the box). I'm having the same issues.
Installed the 5.5.3 update and it does not run. No setup screen or main application window, nor do the red LED's on the sensor light up. Noted this version did not support TrackIR 4 devices, so I spent good money on a new TrackIR 5 device. Same issue.
Running Windows 11.
Moved "Natural Point" folder in "User/AppData/Roaming" to another folder.
Uninstalled previous version of TrackIR
Used CCleaner to remove TrackIR registry entries
Restarted computer and reinstalled 5.5.3
Same result - no indication the software is actually installing.
Task Manager shows TrackIR running, but there's nothing on the screen or in the hidden items folder in the task bar.
The Natural Point Folder in "AppData/Roaming" was NOT created during the 5.5.3 install.
Uninstalled again and reverted to version 5.4.2 it works.
I can't find anything on the sensor unit that shows what version (4 or 5) the hardware is. Tag on the USB Plug has "531817" and a bar code.
Doesn't seem like anyone has been able to fix this. What am I missing?
Seeing a lot of others with similar issue. Is there a fix?

Hello cwarre9,
The unit you purchased recently is a TrackIR5. The TrackIR4 has been discontinued for more than 15 years.
Would you please open Windows Event Viewer and see if there are are any errors listed that are related to TrackIR? It sounds like there may be an issue with a Windows file, such as a missing .dll. I also recommend that you uninstall any older versions of the C++ Redistributables and install this version instead:

I'll try to summarize this mine with your last response to your one to another user too.
My point is that after the installation procedure I don't see any TrackIR5 subfolder in my C:/Program (X86) folder, only that NaturalPoint one. But after I launched 5.5.3, I can see from the Task Manager that it is running in the background, so no icon is displayed in the taskbar on anywhere else. Almost needless to say that the program does nothing at all.
To these I add that there are no error message in Windows Event Manager and I have installed the new Visual C++ libraries after deleting the elder ones, as just as you constantly suggested to.
Lastly, I tried to install any 5.5 new version four or five times each, always getting that failure in return.
Here's why I'm supposing that there must be something weird happening here...

Hi JagHond,
When you installed the new version of the software, did you uninstall the old version first? If not, it may be helpful to try a system restore, then uninstall the older version of TrackIR before installing the new version. I also recommend making sure the TrackIR hardware is not connected to the computer as you do this (more detailed instructions here:
https://docs.trackir.com/software-installation). My hope is that will allow the software to successfully install, with the new folder C:\Program Files (x86)\TrackIR5.
