trackir application hidden but working

Hi,
I'm experiencing this behaviour when running MS flight sim 2020. I load Trackir first, then MSFS and the Trackir settings page disappears. It's still running as I still have head movement in the sim. But I can't adjust settings as I can't access the app using alt-tab etc. It's listed in task manager but there's just no way to access it. I haven't got run minimized or minimize to system tray checked so it should still be full size but it's not. I'm running version 5.4.0.26171 because I have problems running anything later. Windows 11 home 23h2 22631.4391. i7 14000. nvidia 4060ti

Hope someone out there has a tip or a fix

Thanks

Hello squ119ly,

It sounds like the setting "Automatically Minimize On Game Launch" is checked. I recommend unchecking that box while the software is running and then trying again to load your game. When the software is minimized, it is typically minimized to the system tray in the lower right corner (the area that typically shows the time, volume, and network settings). You should be able to double-click on the TrackIR icon in the system tray to restore the software window.

Kind Regards,

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to reply. So it seems I don't have that option. Under General Options I have:
Minimize to System Tray (unchecked)
Submit Error Reports (checked)
Check for News Updates (unchecked)
Check for Software Updates (unchecked) Because of problems I had with latest software
Check for Game list Updates (checked)
Run On System Startup (unchecked)
Run Minimized (unchecked)

That's the lot. However, I'm embarrassed to admit that I never thought to look in the system tray, and I'll check that the next time I'm running TrackIr.
So thanks again,

Robert

Hi Robert,

That's interesting. Typically the option to Automatically Minimize On Game Launch is shown between Minimize to System Tray and Submit Error Reports to TrackIR. If you look in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\NaturalPoint\TrackIR 5, you should find Settings.xml. I suggest opening that file while your TrackIR software is closed and looking for an entry that says "<AutoMinimize>". If the value is 1, then the system will auto-minimize the TrackIR software when the game starts. If you want to disable this behavior, change the value to 0 and then start the software again.

Kind Regards,
