Gap filling using 'Model Based'

Can someone explain this?
Here's a gappy section of mocap, for LeftToeOut marker.
I can see that the model is showing where it thinks the marker should be? (this grey sphere marked in the image)

Great job model, looks like that' s in a really good spot. So i gap fill a small section using Model Based
This is what I get?
Why is the marker over here? Model Based seems to give terrible results, even though motive seems to have a very good idea of where the marker should really be.

thanks
btw. Im using Motive 2.1.1 and cant afford an upgrade
