FS9 no longer moving with TrackIR

I stopped using TrackIR for a few months and now FS9 VC doesn't move at all when I use the hat. Everything shows good, LED's on, the heads moving correctly but the VC just stares straight ahead. It used to work great!
I'm sure it's something I've forgotten but can someone tell me what it is?
Edit:
I just re-installed the TrackIR and now the heads move correctly when I have FS9 paused and in the tray. As soon as I pop open FS9 the heads freeze for a bit then jerk around different directions. FS9 doesn't follow the jerks but does jump around as well.
Followup: I removed Active Camera DLL from the modules as per the tips page and still had the problem.
BUT
As I was experimenting I brought up the Luscombe bush plane and TIR worked. Fairly smooth but with a few jerks. I then tried many other aircraft and no other (so far) have worked.
I'm still working on it.
