Could this driver be ported to linux.... from the sdk it looks like you guys did a good job and it shouldn't be too hard. Im just wondering if those dlls use any windows specific calls.

There is a possiblity of Linux support, but we don't have immediate plans for it. If it was something sponsored then we may be able to get it in the que.

Flex 3 can track about 20-25 dots at a time, depends on their size actually.

How much load does this software cause on the system?

We are planning to use it in realtime to track how people move and use that data to trigger in game events.

If the system load is too much we may have to use other equipment.

Sponsored project. Being a indie developer mean 0$ so im not sure that would happen.

Better question is to your knowledge is this product heavily dependant on windows command calls for it to operator or are you going strait to the usb and drawing your data to non os dependant code?

The OptiTrack SDK uses a very small amount of system resources, which will vary slightly depending on the particular features that you utilize. The OptiTrack hardware and software works using technology that is similar to our TrackIR gaming devices, which have a proven track record as an real-time in-game control system.

As mentioned before, Linux compatibility is being evaluated, but there are no firm plans for support at the moment.

If you can explain the reason for the quetion in the second part of your post, it would help us understand what you are asking better.

We've developed a product proto type based on the optitrack cameras and SDK. Now the team is looking at a Linux port. You mentioned that you were thinking of providing a Linux version of the SDK. Has there been any further developments in the planning for Linux?

We are still considering a Linux port, but we will probably wait until we have the next version of the hardware done, that is looking like 6 months from now. Don't worry, it will support the existing SDK. If you really want a Linux port of the SDK you can always request a quote from us, just to let you know that is an option.

I didn't found any new informations about Linux drivers? Like you said, it should be done at this moment (the 6 months delay). Is the Linux driver is still plan?

I'm also interested in Linux drivers. Are there any news about releasing?
