maya plugin?

hi there, has anyone started to write a maya plugin? any success? it doesn't look too difficult judging by the examples in the maya dev kit.
In general, interfacing to these programs is pretty easy. The question really becomes what type of features are useful in this environment.
If you have some ideas of what you'd like to see, please let us know. We are always evaluating new things to support.
