Hi there,
I have read your posts and am quite intruigued with where you are going with this and would love to test your ability to track and do mo-cap. Desktop Mocap! I love it! guess it was a matter of time really.
I am a user of Motion Builder Pro which im sure you're familiar with. I would love to be able to capture mocap data (fbx, bvh, etc) data. basically to use your system as a mocap device.
So...how??? When???
Looking forward to it!

Yes, just how close are we to having useable data that can be imported into Motion Builder?

Ross, would Motion Builder Standard be able to accept such point data or would you need MB Pro to remap the points?
Thanks

Hiya!
my understanding is that you need PRo in order to do so. but Match mover mo-cap module (software based mo-cap) has the ability to export to FBX so in theory the sdk should allow for that as well.
here's to hoping! fbx really is the short answer here i think!
if this could do it id buy it in a second but doesnt seem to be ready for prime time yet. dying to find out.

Hello:

This is the exact kind of feedback that we need. We are working on a more complete mocap solution as I write this. Currently the system is designed for people to develop their own solutions, but we realize that a prepackaged solution would be better for some customers. We will keep you all up to date on our progress over the next few months.

I have researched heavily and your solution appears to be the only category killer WAY below the $40k price range.

If you could only export data to BVH I assure you tons of people would purchase it ASAP. I know I would.

I can animate but can't write 3D Max plugins, so the API, as robust and open as it sounds, is out of my reach and understanding.

Looking forward to a way to import OptiTrack data to 3D Max!

Hello:

Thanks for the kind words. We are gathering the feedback we are getting form these boards and from emails and will put this into our next product release. The goal is for Max plug-ins for sure, maybe Maya. Hopefully the wait isn't too long!

Can you please tell us how you intend to use the OptiTrack system? Is this for small area motion capture, like facial animation on the desktop, or for full body capture?

Yes, in our software suite you will be able to setup mulitple cameras and have multiple actors tracked at the same time.

BVH for caligari and game dev is my goal! I want to use it for recording fight scenes and animations in my game, would it be possible to record not just two objects, but two people fighting(just an example, maybe basketball games with 2 people and the ball)?

Hi!
I would like to have the ability to do full body Mocap, and of course export functionality. BVH files or similar would be perfect.

Looking forward to the new products!
