Microsoft Flight sim 2004

Hi can you tell me if TrackIR4 works with Flight sim 2004 please.
I managed to get the TrackIR software loaded and operational but when I run the flight sim it does not seem to work even though it is running correctly in the background.
Do I need to adjust something in the sim settings?
Any ideas please
