"My Discovery" for improved FPS in FS9

Maybe this has been said many times before and I just missed it, or perhaps I am just 'slow'.
However, I just realized that if I have the Track IR4 edit screens open and running in the background, with the edit, tracking and heads screens on, that my fps in FS 2004 are 50% of what they would be when the edit screens are closed.
Again, I apologize if this is old news, but for me it is a new finding.
