trackir software won't launch

The installation went fine,both the initial software and 'found new hardware' usb device.
But trying to launch the program brings up the trackir window and a 2nd window 'Naturalpoint trackir has encountered a problem and needs to close - sorry for the inconvenience" along with a send/dont send error report option.Which on closing hangs the Trackir window.

Actually as I mess around with it some more the issue seems to be with the 'news' tab and I unchecked the 'periodic news check'.Now it launches fine.

This may be an internet explorer issue. The news tab launches an internet explorer space to display the news. hmm.
but glad to hear the issue is resolved.

Thanks for the reply Warren.It seems that's the issue alright.If I hit the 'news' tab I get the same message window and TR hangs.
Hmm.Am I missing anything with this option off? I would'nt think so.

Well, you're only missing news.
So no TrackIR functionality is lost.
just notices of new software, events, and game support.

It seems I had a couple of malicious odds and sods in my system that an online panda scan sorted out - I was having problems with web pages not loading too.Now it's all sorted.

Warren and all
I'm having a similar problem. Trackir 4 was working fine but now it just won't launch for me. I have tried deleting and reinstalling (remembering to disconnect where appropriate) as well as a system restore, but nothing happens When I click on the program it thinks about it for about 5 seconds but never launches on to the desktop. Does anyone have a solution for me?
