Slow frame rate with new video card

I just installed an nVidia GeForce 7800 GS video card with 256 MB of RAM. This was an upgrade from an nVidiaGeForce3 Ti 500 card with only 64 MB of RAM.
My problem is that when I use my TrackIR with Vector Expansion, the frame rate in FS9 drops precipitously. It becomes far less than it was with my old video card running the TrackIR/Vector.
What could be the problem?

You'll find your fs9.cfg in:
c:/Documents and settings/Administrator/Application Data/Microsoft/FS9
Its a hidden file so you'll have to turn on show hidden files.
Just rename it to fs9.bak or move it to a different location.
Start the flight sim and a new fs9.cfg will be built.
If you have recently changed your graphics card there can be instances of both graphics cards in the fs9.cfg. This will clean it up.

Well, I rebuilt the FS9.cfg file. Unfortunately, the frame rate is still half what it is in FS9 without TrackIr.
Any other ideas?
