TIR unserviceable after 2 years (more)

Unfortunately my TIR exhibits all symptoms as described here. Namely, the possibility of some internal failure of the TIR unit which comes good with a light tap to the unit, but now completely stopped working.
Whilst I do enjoy TIR and flight simulation, at $220 here in Australia should I buy another?
Will $220 buy me workmanship to a level that only lasts two years?
Keen to hear the communities thoughts on this one. Am I asking too much for $220? Is the product only expected to last two years? Any thoughts as to the component within the unit that is US?
