Hi all,
Since monday I've been the proud owner of the TrackIR 4 Pro. It's really great in FS2004 (9.1). However, after a few minutes the TrackIR starts lagging. I've been testing this yesterday. Even when I am parked at the same place all the time - so the same scenery/trafic - it starts getting slower by the minute. Also when I turn down my graphics to "Very Low", if I recall that correctly, it's still the same. Yesterday it got up to about a 1 second latency while my FS2004 runs smooth. Does anybody know what causes this?
My FS2004 is locked at 30fps.
I have a clean installed PC with the following specs:
- Windows XP SP2
- AMD 3200+
- 1GB DDR
- ATI X800XT PE
- Audigy 2 soundcard
Thanks in advance!

Re: TrackIR starts lagging after a few minutes
First check the size of your profile files, located here C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, they should be no larger thab 4k. If they are that is more than likely the issue.
Second, try a clean install of the software.

Re: TrackIR starts lagging after a few minutes
I'm having the very same problem, but I'm using Flight Simulator X with the latest Alpha version of the software. None of the profiles are larger than 3kb, and right now I've been testing with the default profiles only.
My TIR3Pro worked splendidly on FS2004 but on FSX it starts to lag _very_ badly after a short while of flying.
I haven't tried the latest Alpha version with FS2004 yet, so I'm not sure if the issue is specific to TIR software version or FS version or the combination of them.
The lagging gets worse the longer I fly. At worst I have seen a delay of 15 seconds for my head motion to translate into a game input. The rate of progress seems to be related on FPS rate: the slower the FPS, the faster the lagging progresses. At around 30 FPS I seem to suffer no lag at all, but anything below 20 FPS renders TIR quite unusable in a few minutes.
I hope these details help to track down the issue.

Re: TrackIR starts lagging after a few minutes
Are you running any firewall/antivirus software?
What other applications are running in the background?
When the TrackIR starts to lag, if you Ctrl-Alt-Del to the task manager how much of the resources is the TrackIR using?
What is the priority setting of the TrackIR.exe file in the task manager?

Re: TrackIR starts lagging after a few minutes
I have the same problem with TrackIR lagging after 20minutes or so. Also my MSFF2 joystick fails at the same time. It doesn't happen when I turn off TrackIR. TrackIR also started failing in IL-2 until I changed back to the 28 series drivers. Although the alpha drivers worked great in IL-2 before I started flying FSX.
When my joystick fails I still see the yoke moving in cockpit but the ailerons and elevators fail to move.
My Saitek pedals, Cougar throttle, and trim wheel still work.

Re: TrackIR starts lagging after a few minutes
We are currently working on the issue, among several others, and hope to have more information posted soon.
