Maximum USB Cable Length?

Just wondering if anyone has used a 10 foot extension cable with their TrackIR 3 Pro and if it worked fine for them? I also see these USB active extenders that enhance the signal for up to 75 feet of length (daisy chained). While I only need an additional 10 feet, those come in 16 foot lengths. Wondering if that might be a better option?

I need the length because I use a projector, and mount it above the projector screen. Seems to work great, but right now have it attached using a six foot cable and it bridges in the air between the PC and the wall, obviously not ideal, so have to plug/unplug every time I want to use it. i don't want to spend money on multiple cables for trial/error if I can help it.

Thanks.

n practice, the USB specification limits the length of a cable between full speed devices to 5 meters (a little under 16 feet 5 inches).

So the 5 foot on the TrackIR plus a 10 foot extension should be fine then? That's less than 16.5 feet. I ordered one of those plus one of those USB active extension cables that is supposed to boost the signal for a further range.
