Hi
Just thought I'd post this for reference in creating the new drivers.
I'm using the 4.1.29 a3 drivers.
TrackIR is plugged into external powered hub.
I start up TrackIR and FS9 no problem. Works like a dream (I love it). Set up my flight, take off and head for cruise.
After flying for about 2 hours I'm just setting up my approach when all the lights on the TrackIR unit go out. I notice a lot of hard disk activity, so I pause and minimise FS9.
The system tray then pops up saying it has detected new hardware. It detects TrackIR and asks me for the drivers. I reinstall and now it complains saying it would work better on USB2.0
Meanwhile the TrackIR app is hanging. I try to shut it down, but it refused to shutdown. I even try task manager and "TaskKill", but can't get it to shutdown. Only solution is a reboot.
After reboot TrackIR works just fine again.
This has now happenned to me twice in FS9 and a number of times in FSX. Usually during a relatively long flight.
I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this, but hopefully you can fix it in the final drivers.
Edit: I just checked my device manager and I now have 2 TrackIR 4's installed under the USB ports...
Losing TrackIR during long flight
Re: Losing TrackIR during long flight
Might be a USB issue on the system. It sounds like it is resetting the USB at some point which causes the hardware to crash, which then causes the software to crash.
1- Try moving USB ports. Either to another location on the HUB, or directly into the system itself.
2 - Check for any chipset driver updates for the system/motherboard.
3 - Check for any bios updates for the system/motherboard.

Re: Losing TrackIR during long flight
Since I have an nForce4 motherboard, and having read through the forums, I have updated my motherboard BIOS and software to the latest versions already.
In fact I moved to the external hub because of the old nForce4 hi-speed usb2.0 issue.
I've now reverted to the 4.1.28 drivers. I'll see if I have the same problem with those and let you know.
I've also now disabled the power save settings on the USB, so that might fix it too. We'll see.

Keep us updated please.
Re: Losing TrackIR during long flight
Just an update to this.
Replaced Motherboard. I was having trouble with other USB devices too.

Is it working better?
