Eye concerns

Post by bn880 »

Good day,

I was thinking about getting Track IR for myself, and so I read some discussions on various game forums.

To my understanding TrackIR shines an infra red wavelength light into your face/head and uses that to reflect and analyze the head position.(with a dot) Also this light is I.R. only, meaning it does not shine light in the visible wavelengh spectrum. People report that they need to lower the room brightness sometimes to lower the ambient I.R. levels for the device to work.

Therefore this brings me to my question: If the source of the TrackIR I.R. source is much brighter than the ambient light of the room, will this not cause cornea burns or other types of eye damage over many hours of exposure? If so are there I.R. blocking glasses recommended by TrackIR?

Cheers

EDIT: I guess if there was a specturm analysis done on the IR LED's that would help, are they in IR-A IR-B IR-C wavelengths first of all.
