TrackIR program to translate motion to keystrokes

If someone could do a program similar to trackmapper that included all 6 axis it would be extremely helpful in many games.

If the forward and backward movement could generate keystrokes then you could zoom in and out in games like IL2 that allow mapped keys to switch to 10 different zoom levels.

This may even be useful in FPS games for zooming with rifle scopes. Perhaps the software could even map the Z axis to emulate mouse scroll wheels.

The usefulness would also extend to helping handicap people that have full head movement to control games and applications.

Is there any chance that Naturalpoint or someone else with programming ability could wright an app like this or that keymapping could be built into the TIR drivers?
Thanks!

Nobody can comment on this?

The TrackIR software is only designed to allow you to change the view itself within gaming applications. It isn't designed to be used as a mouse replacement device, are have the ability to preform buttom functions.

As concerning mouse functionality, we have designed the SmartNAV line of products to allow that type of use within applications, as well as the system desktop.

That's a shame. I don't think you are maximizing how useful TrackIR could be for unsupported games and handicap use.

If the trackmapper software that a fan created also used the other Axis's just like he did with the x/y then you would have many new uses for the product without any hardware changes and without modification to older games.

Does anyone else think it would be amazing if you could lean left in any old FPS and have your character lean left? Or when you lean toward the screen you zoom?

I emailed the maker of trackmapper but he hasn't responded.

For games that do not have built in support for the TrackIR, you can try using the mouse emulation application that we include, and use the mouse-look mode that the application might have.

As for use with people that are handicapped, that is why we have the SmartNAV unit itself, which can replace the mouse on a users system completely.

I can see where mouse emulation would be extremely useful and you already support that.

I just wish there were a way to use the other 4 DOF that TrackIR can sense to translate to keyboard presses in order to work with any software. I love TrackIR, but it frustrates me that I can't use all 6 DOF in games that don't specifically support it when an application could be written to translate all 6 DOF into zones that would send keystrokes based on where your head was. I wish I knew C+++ and then I could try to use your SDK to create what I am talking about.
