RPC Server unavailable

I have been trying to reconnect my TrackIR installation and I receive this error message when I attempt to run the install program.
I have checked my Win XP Pro settings and the ones I can find for RPC server say that it is enabled so I am at a loss to make this error go away.

1 - What version of the TrackIR software are you running?
2 - Are you connecting directly to the pc, or are you using a hub?
I'm currently not aware of any calls withing the TrackIR software that would require the use of the RPC server.

I am using version 3.12 and connecting directly thru the PC.

Which TrackIR product are you using?
If you have a TrackIR 3 /4 unit, have you tried installing with this version of the software?

Ok I downloaded and attempted to install the version of the software. I received the same error message:
Setup failed to launch installation engine. The RPC Server is unavailable

Thank you Vincent for your suggestion (wasn't that a line from Seinfeld...but that's another story). I tried the link you provided and checked my system--unfortunately the entries from the article are all present and the RPC Server was already started and running automatically so I am still baffled.
