Ability to remap channels?

Hi,
I am a new user to track IR. Like many more users these days I use my PC through a projector. I enjoy it more sitting in my comfy lounge chair with a 100 inch high res game in front of me. (I rarely use the PC in the office now)

I have seen many questions / posts relating to the topic of how to use the trackIR when you are sitting 15 feet away from the screen, but have not been able to find any posts with a solution. This is something that is happening more and more often.. I have 5 game playing mates that all have similar environments.

One possible solution that would add alot more versatility would be that the TRACK IR software allow us to remap the channels. That way we can place the unit anywhere we want.. (ie on the back of a chair, on the bookshelf to my right or even on the ceiling) and simply remap the various vectors to compensate.

Has anyone else got any thoughts on this..or is there a post that I missed somewhere

Regards
Billy D

The software is already adjustable to this. You just need to adjust the software in the followijng location.

Under View, Tracking. Select the settings button, then chose how you have the unit mounted.

Hmmm! I had a look at that last night but it looked like it it handled the fact that the Sensor itself could be mounted in different orientations, (ie on it side or upside down etc) but it still had to be in front of you.
The situation I have is that it would be off to my right hand side sitting on a bookshelf for example facing my right ear and I would have my 'Hat on Sideways so the vector thingy was on my right hand side.
In this setup it still gets the left/right rotation right but pitch seemed to get interpreted incorectly.

I will revisit this tonight when I get home from work and try again. It was all very new last night and I may have mucked it up.

Thanks for the info and rapid reply
I will post results

OK I have checked it out and I am pretty sure I am right. The settings you indicated compensate for the orientation of the Track IR but it still has to be in front of you.. that orientation will work to adjust the interpretation if it is clipped on the side of the monitor for example but it does not allow me to place the TrackIR on my Right or Left side.

So unless I am missing something , I think we are still in the same boat where projection systems are in use where you would need to add a more advanced option to allow us to specify that the IR is on my right side / left side behind me or even on top.

It allows for mounting to either side, as well as behind as well.

We have many customers with the unit using the TrackIR and projection systems, that also have the camera mounted either to the side or behind them.

I would recommend you try it out, as the unit has a 30 day return policy.
