TIR4 problem with USB Headset

Post by ivanmoe »

I'm trying to get TrackIR4 to work with a CFS3 mod called Over Flanders Fields and my Logitech USB headset. The game works fine with one or the other, but TIR goes totally whacky if my headset is plugged-in.

By "totally whacky" I mean that TIR is largely unresponsive to the movements of my head, and when the screen does refresh, what's displayed bears no relationship to where my headed is pointed.

I've tried moving TIR and the headset to different combinations of USB ports, all to no avail. Is there an issue with TIR and other input items, such as USB headsets for sound and microphone?

We have seen issues with CFS3, and logitech setpoint software, if it is installed.

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Do you have the latest chipset drivers, and motherboard bios installed?

I do not use the logitech software, and the USB headset doesn't require it. I've tried the headset/TIR combo in all sorts of configs. Neither of the units is plugged into an external hub.

I've worked around the problem by using the MIC port on my sound card, and I can use TIR now. But, now I have another problem. Light Blue polygons are being drawn along areas of the player aircraft as I move my head left and right.

A friend told me that the .30 version of your software would resolve this, but the upgrade (which actually shipped with my TIR) has failed to do deliver a fix. Is this a known issue with TIR, or is it related to my hardware config?

System Specs:
Nvidia 8800GTX w/97.92 driver
C2D 2.4ghz
X-Fi Extreme Music w/webupdate driver
2GB Crucial RAM
WDC 320GB Hard Drive
WinXP SP2
DX 9.0c

I am not sure as to why you would be getting "Light Blue polygons ", when using the TrackIR unit; unless the application is having a hard time in rendering some of the 3d effects of the aircraft, while you are moving your point of view.

The TrackIR does not have any effect on the actual graphics that are being used, or drawn, but just rotates you viewpoint within a 3 dimensional space.

Have you tried adjusting your graphics settings, in either the application, or the driver software?
