Switch from cap to headset - problems

Hi guys
I bought my TrackIR 4 Pro last week and have been using it with the standard LOMAC profile with the Vector reflector on a BB cap.
I found the movements a bit 'wild' and also didn't really like wearing the cap, so I mounted the Vector on my headset band.
Now I don't seem to have any head movement ingame and when I check the responses on 'heads' I see that alot of head movement is initially required to move the virtual head and then it moves round very quickly. Up and down axes are even worse.
I looked at the TIR guide on AirWarfare but the screens I get are different in that I don't have a 'Hat' or 'Headset' option. Is there anything I can do without adjusting the profile sensitivity to give me better control?
(Sorry - I can do without learning all the profiling gen at the mo - I'm new to LOMAC and am learning all the controls and I just got a Saitek X52 HOTAS and its all a bit much to get my head around everything so quickly )
Thanx!
