Track Clip Pro stopped working

I've been using TrackIR4 Pro with no issues for about 2 weeks with fantastic results up till now.

This morning I get 'No Data' for status. The only way I can see the heads is to turn on Camera LED's, and then the axes seem to be all wrong, and head movement is very jerky.

Last night I was using a very bright halogen lamp in the same room. Could this have caused a problem?

Nope, the light should not have caused an issue.

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

On the Tracking screen, are you seeing the 3 green leds?

Hi Vincent,

It is plugged directly into the PC, no hub.

I tried swapping to different USB ports, but same results.

I presume the power setting is for hubs only, I can't see any reference to it.

On the Tracking screen, I can only see the green lights if I turn on Camera LED's. Then they show up, but with left and right motion reversed. The head motion is as if the guy has an advanced case of Huntington's disease.

If I turn off Camera LED's, I just get a blank gray window with no response.

1 - Are you using the TrackClip Pro, or the vector clip (http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/02- ... oRight.jpg)

2 - In the profiles section, do you have TrackClip, or Vector selected?

It's Track Clip Pro, and I do have it selected.

Here's the bizzare thing:

About 30 mins after I made my last post, the top light on TrackIR came on by itself. I still cannot configure the heads in setup, but I try a flight sim - it works! Blue light appears, 6DOF works, life is good.

I try a few other sims - they all work, but the TrackIR setup screen still does not work, apart from one time where in the 'View - Tracking' screen I see three very small green lights one time, then next time it's back to just a blank gray screen again, with the same 'No Data' message.

Should I reinstall the software? is this possibly a flaky unit?

Ok, more odd behavior.

I uninstalled and re-installed the TrackIR software, then checked for updates. No updates: 4.1.030 on the CD already.

Went to trackIR configuration, same scenario: No Data.

Tried Falcon4 without any attempts to configure: no TrackIR enabled. Tried FSX, same results.

Tried IL246 - when loading I noticed that the four red LED's on trackIR light up, blue light comes on - now it works in the game. As soon as I exit the game, red LED's and blue light go off, TrackIR software shows 'No Data'.

Go back to FSX, red LED's come on when loading, game works fine. LED's once again go off when game exits.

Do the red LED's indicate 'Camera LED's' active? If so, is my Track Clip Pro setup actually causing the problem?

If I enable Camrea LED's in setup, the heads move, but the axes look all wrong, though if I press F12 in the game, it seems to center and behave just fine.

Are you using the TrackClip Pro, that attaches to the left side of your headset, and has a USB cable attached; or are you using the Vector clip, which attaches to a hat.

I'm using the TrackIR 4 Pro bundle, which includes the Vector Clip which is described as the 'Track Clip' on the website product page.

It looks like the device got renamed, and the website doesn't reflect this in all places. Sorry for the confusion.

It clips onto the hat and has no cable.

Then the software needs to be set to the Vector option in each profile, as opposed to the TrackClip Pro setting.
