WiVik V 3.1 and SmartNAV compatability problems

Hi everybody,

I'm currently recommending SmartNAV3 to several users of WiVik, an on-screen keyboard/word prediction/scanning input computer access program.

All users have sufficient memory, 1 GB plus, reasonably up-to-date Intel processors and Windows XP SP2. I've tested the problem on my own machine with the same results...

WiVik On-screen keyboard mode in click, dwell or scan mode will not enter text into notepad, WordPad or MS Word. In addition attempting to access WiVik drop-down menus is virtually impossible as the menu rolls up as soon as you move the mouse over it.

I tried using the Click'NType keyboard whilst the WiVik keyboard was still on-screen and it was rendered unusable as well!

Has anybody else experienced problems with WiVik version 3.1? If so did you find a solution, please share your experiences.

Cheers, Sean

Which version of the SmartNAV software are you running?

Are you using the dwell software as well?

Hi Vincent,

I'm using SmartNAV version 3.2 build 30. Yes, I am using dwellclick software. Although some of my clients will not be using dwellclicking but, external access switches instead.

Cheers, Sean

In the dwell clicking software settings, do you have the "Win 2K/XP Clicking" option checked, or unchecked?

Hi Vincent,

sorry for the delay. I use dwell clicking and have "Win2k/XP clicking" checked. Most of my clients don't use dwell clicking and still have the conflict between SmartNAV and WiVik.

Cheers, Sean

Is double Click assist checked in the SmartNAV software, as well as that same type of option in the WiVik software?

Have you tried disabling the mouse emulation, within WiVik, as this might also be causing a conflict....

While WiViK provides ways to directly scan menus, text cursors, scroll bars, and windows, some applications (e.g., drawing applications) require mouse input. WiViK therefore includes mouse emulation through a unique radar scanning method which rotates the cursor in scanning steps.

WiViK mouse emulation is accessed by selecting the Scanning mouse icon on the Text cursors page.
