Bought the device last year..lasted 2 weeks, found faulty, rma returned and new model exchanged via eDimensional (waited a long time UK here and will not do that again). New model worked great and I used it for about 1 month before busy life forced it to be carefully packed away till next had time to play (after first failure, not taking any risks). Unboxed and played GTR2 fine around 3 weeks ago. Did a fresh install of Windows XP sp2 yesterday and, like so many others have experienced, now the device will not install??? I have tried every single angle possible, device is connected straight to box, device connected before and after software install, regfix, you name it i have tried it. The windows new usb device installed comes up, but can not find the installed drivers. No lights nothing? Obviously I'm thinking here we go again..ANOTHER Trackir device die on me after hardly any use.
One curious thing happened which gives me hope that this device is NOT dead... I thought I would also try all the older drivers, and upon instalation of the old 3. drivers, THEY are recognised and loaded and the red light on the unit comes on, but nothing else works. Yes I tried installing the new software and running the old drivers but no it still dont work.

I hope you can gleem info from this to find a solution to the problem, because I can not afford to send this unit back to the states. It seems to me in MY experience with Trackir, which so far has been very short lived tho very enjoyable, that this is a device really not worth the risk unless you have the money to burn. I was soooo looking forward to playing my newly acquired copy of BOB2 now I have the time, but if this unit is also dead then that is it for me with sims. I could not go back to using a flight sim without Trackir and there is absolutely no way I could afford to invest in another unit again. I would be gutted that I had forked out well over 100 for this device only to get barely 2 months use from it, but maybe I could at least recouperate some loss by selling all the sims I bought purely on the fact I would be using Trackir to bring them to life.

Heres hoping

a totally gutted

Please send the information listed below, as well as a link to this forum, to the following email address. - Support@NaturalPoint.com

What is the Serial # of the device?
It should be located on the end of the cable, near the USB plug, or on the underside of the device.

Could you send us a copy of the Setupapi.log file?
It should be located in the C:\Windows folder

Have you tried the device on another system?

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Could you attach a screen shot of your Device Manager (showing USB), and tracking screen (TrackIR software -> View -> Tracking)?

To make Print Screen work, you must save an image of what's displayed on-screen to the clipboard and then paste it into a document where it can be printed.

Windows Help: Print Screen

To do this, follow this procedure:

1. Maximize the window you'd like to capture.
2. To copy/capture the current window, hold down ALT + Print Scrn at the same time. To capture the entire screen, just press Print Scrn alone.
3. Open a new document in MS Paint, MS Word, MS Photo Editor, or Adobe PhotoShop.
4. Paste the screen shot by holding down CTRL and V at the same time.
5. Save the document as a .JPG or .JPEG file and send it in.
