accuracy 6DOF

Post by yabad »

we have to track the head of a person in 3D (6DOF) in about 1m distance. Do you have a recommanded setup for the best accuracy & do you have some specification what accuracy we could achive in 3D (X,YZ, roll, pitch yaw).

thanks

Hello:

This sounds like a perfect application for our system.

We would recommend 3 cameras minimum, arranged to capture the 1M volume as best as possible, which could be many different types of camera configuration.

We have been getting about 1-2mm of absolute position accuracy with a 1/2" marker at 1M camera distance. This can be different depending on the camera configuration and size of marker, it could even be better. Resolution is sub 1mm. We haven't been testing rotational accuracy lately, but you should be okay to 1/10th of a degree, again pending configuation.

I would suggest tracking 3 markers and using the resulting triangle to deterimine the 6DOF position of the setup. Our Point Cloud software will give you the 3D position of each marker. In the future our Rigid Body software will compute the 6DOF position from the individual markers, but for now, you will have to do this, which is not hard for a single rigid body.
