I just got the TRackir 4 Pro today and I install the latest software. After installation I Reboot my PC, plug the TRackir and I got a prompt for a new hardware found.

I have tried uninstall, reinstall and Win XP cannot recognize and install the usb drivers for the Trackir !

What Can I do because the installation I have no problem. It looks like the USB drivers are not installing properly durin the installation of the software.

What can I do ?

Have you tried the device on another system?

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Could you attach a screen shot of your Device Manager (showing USB), and tracking screen (TrackIR software -> View -> Tracking)?

To make Print Screen work, you must save an image of what's displayed on-screen to the clipboard and then paste it into a document where it can be printed.

Windows Help: Print Screen

To do this, follow this procedure:

1. Maximize the window you'd like to capture.
2. To copy/capture the current window, hold down ALT + Print Scrn at the same time. To capture the entire screen, just press Print Scrn alone.
3. Open a new document in MS Paint, MS Word, MS Photo Editor, or Adobe PhotoShop.
4. Paste the screen shot by holding down CTRL and V at the same time.
5. Save the document as a .JPG or .JPEG file and send it in.

No I didn't try it in another PC and my Pc is fine.

I plug it directly in the back of PC USB port

All the energy saver mode (shutdown) for USB are disable

The only way I got it to work is by using the npregfix.exe file. But it was not easy and I need to uninstall and reinstall the software and also delete in the device manager the TRackir USB device that had a yellow mark.

Now it is working but I really think the installation and drivers should be fix. Trackir is sometimes crashing when I use the track head windows.

This product is on the 4th generation and mature and should be less bugs and easier to install and use and specially because it is a USB device it should be more user friendly and 100% plug and play.

It is a full Plug and Play device.......

OK, it sounds like the system itself maybe having issues.....

What type of video card is installed?

Driver version?

Well it is the only USB device that cause me problem on my System.

I have other USB which work flawlessly:

Logitech G25 wheel
CH Products: Fighter stick, Throttle Pro, Ruddler pedals
iPod 80G
Maxtor External drive
Canon IP5000 printer
Garmin GPS
and so on......

The TrackIr is a tricky device. Because if you unplug it from a USB port and put it in another USB port Windows will not detect it. Well it happen to me and i'm not using my Viewsonic VP2030B USB hub !

Well to follow your request I have an ATI video card and use the latest driver Catalyst 7.6

The only way I got it to work was by using the .exe file that was post in another thread. I don't know what this file do but after several try it finally work.

Now I just don't want to unplug the TRackir just I will go again into trouble.

On standard systems, if you unplug the device, and move USB ports, then the TrackIR should be redetected.

If it isn't then something within the USB/system isn't initializing and detecting the USB device properly.
