Major loss in FPS when using TrackIR!

Hey all, I don't really use my TrackIR that much, but when I do, I notice about a 33% loss in frame rate when using it in FSX. For example, I flew a cross country yesterday from Talladega to New Orleans and when using the TrackIR I averaged about 22-25FPS. When I have the driver disabled and using only the jog wheel on my yoke to look around, I was averaging low to mid 40's FPS in the same area. That's quite a chomp out of the frame rate with this little device. Is this normal? I am using the latest software as well. Thanks.

There should be that much of a drop in frame rates, if any.

What version of Windows are you running?

Are you running any Anti-virus/Firewall software?

In the following folder location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, what is the file size for each profile?

I'm all of a sudden having framerate troubles. My combat flight profile is 1.83 kb, flight profile 1.82, but the default profile is 3.92 kb. Is that a problem?

Well the profiles should be under 4KB in size, anything over that is when you are starting to get some data corruption.

What OS are you running?

What version of the TrackIR software?

Have you made any changes to the system recently?

I'm running WinXP. TrackIR 4. I recently re-installed trackIR, FS2004 and a lot of other stuff due to a hard drive crash.

Could be a conflict with another add-on app. that is trying to do head latency as well.....

I found the culprit!! tmpfw.exe. Even though I shut down my security program this process was still running. Once I killed it my frame rates jumped right back up!!
